Roy is mistaken for a bad guy expected by the local outlaw gang. He goes undercover to pin the goods on the bad guys. Just as he is about to do so, the real bad guy shows up.
Bad guys plot to trick a newly arrived Eastern girl out of a ranch which belongs to her infant ward. Roy, of course, saves the ranch for the girl.
Roy is a bandit who is out to get the man who killed his younger brother. He learns as he rides into the town of Senora that the man is the owner of the local saloon and gambling hall.
As the sheriff of a small western town, Autry sings his way into a relationship with Eleanor, a singer from a Chicago nightclub who earlier witnessed a murder.
